Artificial intelligence(AI) is a dual term describing both the intelligence of machines and also the branch of science with a specific goal to make AI possible. As a field of science it is the study and design of intelligent agents where an intelligent agent is a system that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chances of success whatever the aim might be. It is a interdisciplinary field combining computer science, engineering, philosophy and various parts of technology industries. The goal of AI is to simulate the sapience of humans, to be able to learn and make actions based on experience. There are many issues, setbacks and ethical concerns that researches have addressed since antiquity.

In Scope:

AI research, as said before is highly technical and specialized, yet divided into subfields that often fail to communicate with each othe ...

Cancer Prevention

Cancer Prevention

Publisher: Publishing Services LLC

Publish date: 2012-09-20

ISBN: 978-0-9835850-X-X

Editor: Not yet selected

Cancer or malignant neoplasm starts when a group of cells display uncontrolled growth, and invades or intrudes upon and destroys adjacent cells. The cancer has the ability to spread through the body via lymph or blood – it metastasis. The causes of cancer have been divided into two groups of factors, the environmental and those with a hereditary genetic cause. Although cancer is primarily an environmental disease, genetics can influence the risk of some cancers.  At least one-third of all cancer cases are preventable therefore prevention offers the most cost-effective and the best long-term strategy for the control of cancer.

In Scope:
We are mainly talking of prevention, however chapters can cover variety of topics including causes, treatments, research and prevention methods. In order to help authors getting the gist of the book project, we suggest t ...

Depression Economics

Depression Economics

Publisher: Publishing Services LLC

Publish date: 2012-09-20

ISBN: 978-0-9835850-X-X

Editor: Not yet selected

Agreeing on definition of depression is a tougher task than one thinks. We can generally say that depression is a time period marked by a substantial and sustained shortfall of the ability to purchase goods. The shortfall, we can add, could be measured in relation to the amount that could be produced using current resources and technology, that is, in relation to potential output. Another proposed definition of depression, by some economists, is when and if these two general rules apply;  a 10% (or more) decline in real GDP occurs, and that a period of recession has to last 2 or more consecutive years.

In Scope:

Depression economics subjects are as wide as the sky. Therefore a wide range of topics should be in scope starting from history data, analysis, acts and measures gone bad or ones proved to be highly successful; subjects covering what has ...

Machine Learning

Machine Learning

Publisher: Publishing Services LLC

Publish date: 2012-09-20

ISBN: 978-0-9835850-X-X

Editor: Not yet selected

A common definition of Machine Learning concludes it is a scientific discipline concerned with the design and development of algorithms that allow machines (computers) to make decisions or even evolve behaviors based on collection of empirical data. There is a difference between AI (artificial intelligence) and machine learning, as the latter is a branch of AI. Empirical data can be collected from sensors and analyzed comparing existing databases. A major focus of machine learning research is to automatically learn to recognize patterns and make intelligent decisions based on data.

In Scope:

This is a vast field of open dreams yet to be blueprinted, but during decades of research and thought on the subject, an immense obstacle was found in the fact that the set of all possible behaviors given all possible inputs is too large to be covered by the set of observe ...

Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology

Publisher: Publishing Services LLC

Publish date: 2012-09-20

ISBN: 978-0-9835850-X-X

Editor: Not yet selected

Nanotechnology is the science and technology of building devices, such as electronic circuits, from single atoms and molecules. A broader definition of nanotechnology says it is the study of manipulating matter on an atomic and molecular scale generally sized between 1 to 100 nanometre.

In Scope:

Nanotechnology is very diverse, ranging from extensions of conventional device physics to completely new approaches based upon molecular self-assembly, from developing new materials with dimensions on the nanoscale to investigating whether we can directly control matter on the atomic scale.

There is much debate on the future implications of nanotechnology. Nanotechnology may be able to create many new materials and devices with a vast range of applications, such as in medicine, electronics, biomaterials and energy production.

Nuclear Power

Nuclear Power

Publisher: Publishing Services LLC

Publish date: 2012-09-20

ISBN: 978-0-9835850-X-X

Editor: Not yet selected

Nuclear power or atomic power is the energy released by the nucleus of an atom as the result of nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, or radioactive decay. Such energy, provided by sustained nuclear fission, is used to generate heat and then transformed or used in various ways (for example to heat up water in nuclear electric plants, or ships etc). Nuclear power is controversial and there is an ongoing debate about the use of nuclear energy or whether it is safe or troublesome for humanity and environment.

In Scope:

We want to know as much about its history as about its future. Is it the power that will save the world and lead the green revolution in the 21st century, or is it a threat to humanity and environment? Paper subjects on this issue are wide and can cover nuclear science and engineering, concepts, systems and applications as well as nuclear pro ...

Spinal Cord and Nerve Injury

Spinal Cord and Nerve Injury

Publisher: Publishing Services LLC

Publish date: 2012-09-20

ISBN: 978-0-9835850-X-X

Editor: Not yet selected

The nervous system is involved in everything our bodies do, from breathing regulation to muscle control. It also senses heat and cold, pain, controls the food digestion and much more. Nerves are often called the messengers of the body as they transmit information from all parts of the body to the brain and vice versa.
There are dozens of different types of nerve damage, thus various types may have different symptoms and may require different types of treatment.

More than 20 million Americans are afflicted with peripheral nerve damage and although nerve pain and nerve damage can be mild, but since nerves are essential to all we do, nerve pain and damage can seriously affect the quality of life.
Spinal cord trauma can be caused by any number of injuries to the spine. It may result from direct injury to the cord itself or indirectly from damage to surroundin ...

Many authors agree viral marketing is a buzzwords-assembly that refers to marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networks or internet in general to reach global audience and maximize the impact of the Internet for business. Viral marketing may take the form of video clips, games, ebooks, brandable software, images, articles, blogs or text messages and it works on the principle that people will inform others of something they find amusing, interesting, or otherwise worthwhile of their time and then those people generally tend to tell other people and so on.
It also helps to achieve product development, worldwide presence and certain increase in brand awareness through a process that resembles to the spread of viruses or computer viruses. It can be delivered by word of mouth or enhanced by the network effects of the Internet.
The purpose of viral marketing ...
